WI group opens legal aid station for immigrantsA new office that offers low-cost legal services on immigration has been opened in Madison by United Migrant Opportunity Services Inc.
With its headquarters in Milwaukee, UMOS offers an array of social services statewide and in Minnesota, Texas, Kansas and Missouri. Its services include workforce development, such as Wisconsin Works; child development; education; health; housing and domestic violence supportive services. It works with rural and urban low-income people. 'One of our focuses is going to be to serve the farm-worker community, and Madison is closer to rural communities where farm workers live and work,' said UMOS spokesman Rod Ritcherson.
