Illegal charged with murder of WI woman

May 19, 2009
Legal Latino residents in the Wausau area say they are living on edge since the death of Breanna Schneller and the subsequent arrest of her alleged killer.

The Spanish-speaking community already was uneasy when police reported Schneller, 18, had a Mexican fiance, and things got worse when Raul Ponce-Rocha was named as a suspect, said Lydia Albright, a Puerto Rican Kronenwetter resident.

Schneller, a D.C. Everest Senior High School senior living in Wausau, was found slain in her apartment May 2. Ponce-Rocha, 22, of Wausau, an undocumented immigrant, was charged Wednesday with her homicide.
