MO senator approves of ICE nominee

Washington -- Sen. Claire McCaskill, D-Mo., told President Barack Obama's choice to head the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency that she supports his plan to crack down on illegal immigration by targeting unscrupulous employers rather than the undocumented workers they hire.
John Morton, a career federal prosecutor, told his Senate confirmation hearing Wednesday that the administration would step up prosecutions and civil fines against employers.
McCaskill said the strategy would reverse practices by the Bush administration that assured employers that they had 'absolutely no fear that they would ever face meaningful enforcement.'
