India: Two Sri Lankan nationals caught with fake passports

April 24, 2009
Two Sri Lankan nationals, who posed as a couple, and another person hailing from Haryana were caught by immigration authorities at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at Shamshabad for trying to travel abroad using fake documents.

In both the cases, the accused produced Schengen visas which enable a person to travel to any of the 17 European countries that have a common visa.

In the first incident, the immigration authorities caught the two Sri Lankan nationals as they tried to board Flight No TG 330 of Thai airlines to Frankfurt via Bangkok. The couple, who were in possession of Indian passports issued at Tiruchirapally in Tamil Nadu, identified themselves as Velusamy Rajesh and Rajesh Kalpana.
